Cryotherapy is the name given to any treatment which involves the use of freezing temperatures.
It’s often used to rehabilitate muscles and increase circulation in athletes.
The Food and Drug Administration has approved cryolipolysis to treat fat deposits beneath the chin, upper arms, inner and outer thighs, abdomen, hip/flank (“love handles”), upper back, lower back, and underneath the buttocks.
We will work with you to design a plan – and the number of treatment sessions – that will best meet your desired goals
Typically four sessions are needed for maximum results.
Frotox is the use of cryotherapy technology on the face. The technique delivers highly pressurized liquid nitrogen to your nerves. When it reaches the nerve, it turns into a gas and draws heat from the surrounding tissues to create a controlled cold zone. This causes your facial muscles to relax, which reduces the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. The innovative technology means that you can focus on specific areas of the face, helping to improve stubborn wrinkles, reduce inflammation and tighten your skin.
The intense cold, making contact, with your skin during the facial causes your blood vessels to contract and dilate, increasing your blood flow. This means more important nutrients are delivered to your skin and toxins are flushed away. This improves the strength of your skin. Surprisingly, this increased blood flow can even trigger your scalp into stimulating hair growth and fight off eczema. Better blood circulation also lowers your heart rate, blood pressure and improves your brain function.
During a Frotox session, the nerves of your face are put into ‘hibernation’ by the freezing nitrogen. This relaxes your muscles, reducing the appearance of muscles.
Collagen is a key protein in our bodies, and is essentially the substance that holds the body together – protecting our organs, connecting ligaments to bones, and keeping our skin elastic. As we get older, we produce less collagen and wrinkles start to appear. Fortunately, a cryotherapy facial triggers collagen production, helping to smooth away wrinkles.
Large pores make it easy for dirt and oil to penetrate your skin. This can cause unsightly blackheads and spots. Blackheads, in particular, can be very difficult to get rid of once they’ve formed. During a cryo facial, your pores react by shrinking and tightening, making it harder for that dirt and oil to access your skin. The facials also exfoliate your skin, so you are left with glowing, clear and healthy skin.
There is nothing more aging than dark circles around the eyes. They give a tired, stressed look and make you appear unhealthy. The blood flow boost provided by cryo facials delivers the nutrients that your skin is crying out for, leading to a more even skin tone. How Is A Cryotherapy Facial Different To A Normal Facial?
An ordinary facial involves cleansing, exfoliating and nourishing the skin on the surface.
You might be worried that a cryo facial is painful or uncomfortable. It’s not – there are no injections, so no pain there. You’ll experience a cold sensation as the freezing nitrogen gently targets specific parts of your face – like a refreshing burst of cold air, or jumping into a chilled pool on a hot day. Afterwards, your skin will feel tighter and exhilarated.
Yes – it can certainly boost your skin’s general health and appearance. Cryo facials have been shown to improve resistance to acne-causing bacteria, and by increasing the blood flow in your face they can improve the appearance of scarring. Cryotherapy can also help with conditions such as rosacea and dermatitis. Make sure you discuss any skin concerns you have when you arrive at your appointment, and the specialists will be able to guide you.
